Lee Carslake

Lee is a safety and compliance consultant, running his own business. He has an extensive background in both Flight Operations and Continuing Airworthiness. His career path started with British Caledonian Airways and includes time with Britannia Airways (now TUI), Astraeus Airlines, AirTanker Services, and British International Helicopters. With a experience in both fixed wing and rotary platforms he has held nominated person positions for safety and compliance for UK & EASA AOC, ATO, Part CAMO, Part 145, Part 147, Part 21J, Part 21G, and Military Civil Operated Aircraft.

Lee entered the field of compliance and safety while at Britannia Airways, was compliance lead for the transition of the airlines UK design approvals to JAR-21 and hangar consolidation project; closing Hangar 89 at Luton before representing TUI Airline management during group airline standardisation projects across the TUI groups airlines. He joined Astraeus Airlines where he set up the first UK CAA recognised cross border pooling arrangement with Sterling Airways. A stint at AirTanker Services followed as Compliance Manager based at RAF Brize Norton overseeing the introduction of the Voyager aircraft, before becoming a consultant. In 2014 Lee joined Rigby Group as Group Compliance & Safety Manager successfully integrating a number of businesses under the British International Helicopters name and played a key role in the upgrade of the maintenance facilities at RAF Mt Pleasant. Lee left in 2019 to become the Compliance & Safety Director at Hans Airways, setting up CASAer as a consultancy and management company offering services to fixed wing and rotary based platforms.

Lee has previously contributed towards industry groups including UKMEMS, UKFSC, UKOTG, UKASF, DfT, EIMG, EASA. He currently represents ECAG at the EASA European Rotary Committee.

Marc Bailey

Marc has had the privilege of working across a broad spectrum of aviation, including scheduled airlines, MROs, military contracts and as a CEO representing 180 members in the UK. Despite the presence of numerous global organizations in the UK, there continues to be significant collaboration with our European counterparts. With 40 years of experience as a licensed engineer, Marc still holds type ratings for older aircraft some of which are still surprisingly in service.  He has been a post holder in Continuing Airworthiness, Quality, Base Maintenance, and a Part 147 Training Facility.

A key part of Marc’s current activities is the alliance for General Aviation for Business (GA4Biz), Together with BHA, ARPAS and AOPA, BBGA we are helping address business and regulatory issues with UK government and the CAA. These joint endeavours are proving to be highly effective and are vital to the future development of aviation.

Marc is passionate about fostering a new generation of aviation enthusiasts to work in our industry. We are working closely with the UK Government, industry, and providers across the UK to implement a fresh strategy. The new talent recruitment platform sponsored by the UK government in conjunction with TRS, the provider, is helping to develop a cohesive relationship between colleges, universities, and our industry to address the specific requirements of aviation in the UK.
